Generic Flagyl is prescribed for the treatment of serious infections caused by amebiasis, susceptible anaerobic bacteria, trichomoniasis and asymptomatic partners of infected patients. Flagyl used to treat two types of infections. One, trichomonas is a sexually transmitted parasite and the other is a condition called bacterial vaginosis, usually caused by the bacteria, Gardnerella.
